Welcome to WhyCantWeGetMarried.Com West Africa Chapter Website
Thank you for visiting WhyCantWeGetMarried.com!
WhyCantWeGetMarried.Com (WCWGMC) Sierra Leone is a chapter of an Australian-based organization that was founded in 2007 by a small group of activists committed to Human Rights and ending minority discrimination worldwide. The West Africa Chapter based in Sierra Leone of WCWGMC is a non-religious, non-partisan and non-profit making organization aimed at promoting peace, equality, understanding and respect of all human rights across Sierra Leone. The organization strongly promotes, protects and provides services on human rights and access to sexual reproductive health services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) young people across Sierra Leone. We challenge all forms of discrimination especially, those dealing with the rights of LGBTQI people.
WhyCantWeGetMarried.com doesn't understand discrimination based on difference and so we question whether religious/cultural/political 'rights' should ever be more important than basic human rights.
Some thoughts:
- We breathe, bleed and love the same so why are some relationships, that do not hurt anyone, discriminated against?
- Why should a person who believes one religion face hate, danger or even death for loving another person who believes a different religion?
- Why can't two people with different shades of skin love without a society or government intervening?
- What does it matter if two people of the same gender love each other?
We do not support hate, we promote love, respect and understanding. We hope you will join us in creating a more equitable world.
